We collect as little as we can and never sell what you search for.

When you look up a domain

  • We record the domain, whether it was taken, and the time.
  • To count distinct visitors we store a short code made from your IP address and a random key that changes every day. We don't store your IP address itself, and old keys are deleted after two days, so a code can't be traced back to you or linked across days.
  • Refreshing the same page within 30 minutes isn't recorded again. Lookups from bots and command-line tools aren't recorded.
  • We don't keep server access logs and don't show ads.

What other visitors can see

For registered domains only: how many times the domain was looked up here, and the history of changes to its public registry record. For unregistered domains we show neither, so nobody can tell that someone searched for a free name.

Feedback and analytics

The feedback panel on every page is Pintelly, our feedback tool. It loads from pintelly.com, so Pintelly sees your IP address. If you send feedback, it stores your message and anything you add to it, such as your email address, a rating or a screenshot.

Pintelly can also collect usage analytics: which pages you open (including the domain in the page address), how you scroll and move the mouse, and errors in your browser. It only does this after you agree, and it uses cookies and browser storage to remember your choice and your visit. Session recording is off.

When you sign up for email updates

We store your email address, the domain and how often you want updates. We send a confirmation email first and nothing else until you confirm. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the subscription. Emails are delivered through our email provider.

Who else sees your search

  • The registry that runs the domain's extension, because we ask it for the record. It sees our server, not you.
  • Cloudflare, which sits in front of this site to deliver it. It handles every request, including which domain you looked up.
  • Cloudflare's public DNS resolver, for the DNS records of registered domains.
  • Pintelly, as described above.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at [email protected].
